Our Daddy, My Papa-Cheii
Our Champ: Eulogies
“Shiyazhi, look life straight in the eyes, show no fear.”
“Shiyazhi, you got to be tough and grit your teeth.”
“Shiyazhi, give em’ hell.”
“Shiyazhi, don’t let life drag you around, you drag life around.”
“Shiyazhi, life is tough, but you got to be tougher.”
“Shiyazhi, take life by the reins.”
“Shiyazhi, I love you always”
February 27, 2020
Daddy had a great day. He did good at PT. He challenged Netty to a foot race. He danced at Buffalo Wild Wings. We joked and laughed. He noticed the bar and started telling us of his wild younger days.
When we were leaving, he asked if there were any dances that night… while he danced to the door. Unfortunately, there was none.
We returned home and helped him out of the truck. I said, “Don’t worry, I got you.” He began singing, “I got you babe.”
As we walked up the driveway laughing, I challenged him who would get to the door first. He was pretending to walk slow then rushed off jogging to the door. I followed right behind, making sure he did not trip. We were laughing as we went. He beat me. What can I say? He is Our Champ.
We’re Going to Miss Holding Your Hands
by Netty, Ty, & Your Cheii Yazhi
We’re going to miss holding your hands
Your hands protected us our whole lives
Your hands cradled us as babies
Your hands guided us walking
Your hands rubbed our pain away
Your hands high five us
Your hands low five us
Your hands cheered us on
Your hands showed us discipline
Your hands supported us
Your hands taught us
Your hands worked hard daily for us
Your hands built everything we own
Your hands patted ours to tell us you’re still with us
But, most importantly…
Your hands loved us
Your hands comforted us all the way to the end
Now, they are at rest
